The Southern Cross Young
Achiever Awards have for over 20 years been giving the people of Tasmania an
opportunity to publicly acknowledge the contribution that young people make in
our community.
If you know someone between 14
and 28 years of age making an impact and achieving in one of the eight category
areas listed below, you can give them a real boost by nominating them for these
prestigious Awards. A nomination could have a positive effect, increasing
confidence and self esteem and may have an impact on their lives.
Nominations will be sought
throughout Tasmania until the 2nd December in the following categories:

TEMCO
- Science and Technology Award
·
Hydro
Tasmania - Environment Award
·
Print
Applied Technology - Sports Award
·
First
National Real Estate - Leadership and Innovation Award
·
Mat
Goggin Foundation - Entrepreneurship Award
·
O
Group - Trade and Enterprise Achievement Award
·
Heather
and Christopher Chong - Community Service Award
·
University
of Tasmania, Faculty of Education - Teaching Excellence Award
The Awards will culminate at a
Gala Awards Presentation Dinner during National Youth Week on Saturday 21st
April 2012 at Wrest Point.
Each category winner will
receive a $1,000 Progress Saver account from ANZ and a trophy. One of the eight
category winners will also be chosen as the Premier’s Young Achiever of the
Year and will receive a $1,000 grant from the Tasmanian Government and a
fabulous holiday for two provided by Wrest Point and Qantas (conditions apply).
