Tasmanian Women in Agriculture host group for the West Tamar, gets local landholders and business together to discuss rural issues in our district. We hold regular meetings, guest discussion panels, field days and other training events.

Harvest & Produce
This month we welcome an all star cast of wonderful producers.
Our guests this month include:
Tanya Murray of SUBURBAN JUBILEE,
passing on her extensive knowledge on herb harvesting and usage beyond the plate.
Tanya is a regular producer at the Ut Si Cafe Produce Market on Saturdays and
specialises in seasonal locally grown materials in her recipes.
Vicky Cowan of VIX KITCH is a renowned local preserve maker,
and will discuss the importance of fruit and vegetable selection in preserving.
VIX KITCH can be found amidst the plethora of local prodcuers at the
popular HARVEST MARKET in Launceston, also on Saturdays, showcasing
the wonderful diversity of locally made food stocks.
Graeme of THIRLSTAN GARDENS, another HARVEST MARKET regular,
with a wonderful fresh herb & vege enterprise
also joins us and will bring you a perspective of the importance and value
of a true Farmers Market to a small Primary Producer.

On Sunday 28th October at Artisan Gallery on the West Tamar there
will be a gathering of basket makers from around Tasmania. The occasion is the
opening of their exhibition
“Gather” which will be performed by Paul Jenkins, Executive Director for
Tasmanian Regional Arts.
There are both functional and sculptural baskets, wall
hangings and a chair made from willow
in the exhibition. All are very individual works of art in there own
right with that innate beauty that handcrafted work possesses.

October Meeting with NRM North
We welcome Kate Thorn from Natural Resource Management North to this months meeting to talk with us on small farms and natural resource management.
Come along and chat about how to include NRM in your farm planning, options for workshops and training in farm management, weeds, soil issues and native vegetation conservation.
Meeting kicks off at 7:30pm on MOnday October 1st at Exeter Showground Tea Rooms.

Glengarry Community Events
On the 27th October Glengarry is having a community event
outside the shop and fire station.
It is part of Artentwine festival in the
West Tamar for the month of October. There will be a BBQ and community art project
launch (including some participation). Come and meet your neighbours and please
invite those you know who live round abouts.
Prior to the event there will be community mosaic sessions
each Monday after school and Saturday mornings outside the shop.
If you have any ideas or contributions they are very welcome
in the next few weeks to help create a great event for the community in
Glengarry.
